The Pittsburgh Technology Council is pleased to present Eric Meyhofer the Head of Uber’s Advanced Technologies Group (ATG). Eric Meyhofer will discuss The Future of Transportation and the role that Uber’s ATG plays in this, and its impact on our region. During the conversation, Eric will share Uber ATG’s vision as they continue to work towards developing self-driving technology and the race to solving one of the biggest technical challenges of our time.
Eric Meyhofer is the Head of Uber’s Advanced Technologies Group (ATG). Eric spent eleven years at Carnegie Mellon University’s Robotics Institute, as a Special Faculty member with a focus on commercializing technology. Eric has founded several companies spanning various robotics fields, from 3D mapping of underground mines (Mine Vision Systems, Inc.) to companies that use high power lasers to autonomously de-coat F-16 fighter jets (Titan Robotics, Inc.). However, it is one of his early startups, Carnegie Robotics, LLC., that helped pave the way to co-founding Uber ATG in Pittsburgh.
Uber ATG mission is to ignite opportunity by setting the world in motion. Good things happen when people can move, whether across town or towards their dreams. Opportunities appear, open up, become reality. What started as a way to tap a button to get a ride has led to billions of moments of human connection as people go all kinds of places in all kinds of ways with the help of our technology.
