Hello World Speed Fest

November 14, 2018 | 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Learn the basics of creating software to make art! First, we’ll look at some interactive examples of creative software – make a tree grow with your voice, replace your features with new ones. Then we’ll dive in and write some software art of our own. You’ll leave with a basic understanding of programming and a sense of possibility of what you can make next. Beginners and intermediate students are welcome.

Please bring a laptop to the class or let us know if you need one to work on in advance. Childcare is available upon request.

Instructor Caroline Record is an artist and programmer, with a focus on creating interactive installations and museum experiences. She ideates, storyboards, sources the equipment, solders the electronics, and writes the software necessary to bring innovative projects to life. As an artist Caroline uses a combination of code and sculpture to craft artistic systems. These systems are at once clever and sensual, incorporating extreme tactility with ephemeral, abstract logic.
